Crochet Blue Tiles Afghan Pattern
The floral shapes in the octagon motifs along with tiny square motifs crocheted together to make one afghan detailed with beauty!
The Blue Tiles Afghan Pattern was provided to me from Annie’s in exchange for this review.
Upon receiving the Crochet Blue Tiles afghan pattern it struck me on how detailed and pretty this motif crochet afghan actually is. The larger motifs intertwined with the tiny square motifs make up one large stunning afghan! While the pattern is considered intermediate, once you learn how to make one motif the pattern becomes easier to repeat.
Yarn Suggestions
The pattern calls for Caron Simply Soft medium worsted weight acrylic yarn in the colors of bone, off-white, pistachio, country blue and dark blue. Since I was just crocheting a practice square before I dive into making the entire afghan I just used my extra yarn that I had lying around which is typically Red Heart or Bernat Yarn. I made it through to two colors of the motif so far. I probably will wait and start over now that I have a complete understanding of the pattern with the right colors of yarn that I prefer to crochet the afghan with. I prefer the colors available in the Caron Simply Soft Yarn and will be using these to complete my project. Take a look at the pattern I started below…
What’s great about a crochet motif afghan is that you can easily carry the project with you as you travel around. It does make a great take along project. Plus if you decide to download the pattern from Annie’s you can print out the pattern or read it on your phone or tablet.
Special Stitches
The Motif Pattern does call for special stitches such as the Single Crochet Join which is clearly explained and illustrated in the pattern download.
Other stitches include the 3-Treble Cluster and the 2-Treble Cluster which is also explained in detail with the pattern.
If you need additional help with crochet stitched Annie’s has a helpful guide with videos on their website called Beyond Basic Stitches where you can watch in detail how to create stitches from double treble crochet to picot stitch and more!
Once you have completed crocheting the motifs you can arrange them the motif key and the Blue Tiles Afghan Placement Diagram.
There is also an alternate color suggestion for the Motifs as shown below.
