A refreshing summertime treat there is nothing quite like a fresh glass of cold lemonade.
On a hot summer day an ice cold glass is just what we need to cool off.
Lemonade is easy to make all you need is 3 simple ingredients.
Forget the powered lemonade and make yours from scratch
What you will need to make 8 servings is
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup Water
Lemons
Directions: Bring the water and sugar to boil in a small sauce pan. Reduce the heat and simmer but do not stir, until the sugar dissolves, approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool.
In the meantime, put a small strainer over a glass measuring cup. Cut around 10 lemons in half and using a reamer
, squeeze about 1-1/2 cups juice into the measuring cup
. If the lemons are too firm roll them around on a cutting board to soften them first. This will make the juice come out easier.
In a large pitcher
, combine the lemon juice, the cooled sugar syrup and 4 cups of water. Taste for tartness, if the lemonade is too tart and 1 or 2 cups more cold water. Remember is you are adding ice this will dilute the lemonade even more. Place in the refrigerator until chilled.
Serving suggestion – before serving cut 2 lemons into wedges or slices and stir them into the lemonade and add ice. Freeze lemonade into cubes and add to the lemonade in order not to dilute the drink like regular ice will do.
