British Flag Cross Stitch Pattern

It has been a very busy year for our friends in the United Kingdom!
The 2012 Olympic Games in London are in full swing, Her Majesty the Queen has celebrated her Jubilee honoring 60 year of reign, and Will and Kate – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary.
There has certainly been much to celebrate, and we have a perfect project, provided by DMC UK, to honor this very eventful year.
The Union Flag, also referred to as the Union Jack is the national flag of the United Kingdom, and you can stitch a charted version using this week’s free pattern.
The pattern is worked using just two colors of DMC Embroidery Floss on a white fabric background.  The finished design will measure approximately 5 inches wide by 3 inches in height when worked on 14-count CharlesCraft Aida.
Work the design in cross stitchhalf cross stitch or needlepoint.
Suggested colors of DMC cotton floss are 321 for the red and 336 for the blue.
